It is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the IISc & 7 IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Master of Science: MS

The M.S. program is research spanning over a minimum period of two years duration and a maximum of 5 years duration. In this program, the candidates are required to do some prescribed courses followed by a thesis work on a broad specialization of the Department.
